Interior design in Riviera Beach

Gava Studio Design is an interior design studio based in Stuart, and we serve Riviera Beach on both sides of the Lake Worth Lagoon. The mainland city, incorporated in 1922 as the Town of Riviera, holds the Port of Palm Beach, the Marina Village waterfront and neighborhoods along Broadway and Blue Heron Boulevard. Across the Blue Heron Bridge, most of Singer Island is also Riviera Beach: condominium towers along North Ocean Drive, and public beaches at Ocean Reef Park and the Ocean Mall.

The island takes its name from Paris Singer, whose 1920s resort plans stalled when the Florida land boom collapsed, and its southern tip is the separate Town of Palm Beach Shores. We design condominium renovations, lighting and window treatments that meet the county's sea turtle rules, updates to mid-century houses, and restaurant, shop and office interiors near the water, and we coordinate each project with the licensed contractors who build it.

Neighborhoods and communities we serve in and around Riviera Beach:

  • Singer Island oceanfront, North Ocean Drive
  • Ocean Mall and the Municipal Beach
  • Marina Village and the Marina District
  • Broadway (U.S. 1) corridor
  • Riviera Beach Heights
  • Palm Beach Shores (adjacent)

Also serving nearby: Singer Island, Palm Beach Shores.

Oceanfront condominiums on Singer Island

Singer Island's towers stand between the Atlantic and the lagoon, and many units look both ways: sunrise over the ocean, sunset across the water toward the mainland. The buildings range from the Tiara, the island's tallest, to the paired towers at 2700 North Ocean Drive, and each association sets its own rules on drawings, flooring underlayment, contractor insurance, work hours and elevator use. We plan renovations inside those rules, with layouts that respect fixed plumbing stacks, finishes and hardware chosen for salt air, and shading that tames afternoon heat on the west side without giving up the view.

Buildings of three or more habitable stories also face Florida's milestone structural inspections, generally due in the year a building turns 30 and every 10 years after, and the resulting repairs can affect when unit work is allowed. Our project direction service keeps the design schedule, deliveries and the contractor's work in step with building management and sends photo and video reports to owners who are away.

Lighting and window treatments under the sea turtle rules

Beachfront property on Singer Island and in Palm Beach Shores falls under Palm Beach County's sea turtle ordinance, administered there by the county's Environmental Resources Management department (ERM). From March 1 through October 31, exterior lights visible from the beach must be disconnected or modified, and installing or replacing a light source in the zone requires an ERM permit.

The rules reach indoors as well. The code requires window treatments on windows visible from the beach, preferring blackout draperies or shade screens, and new lighting plans call for tinted glass or film on beach-facing windows and doors. For condominium common areas, the association applies, not an individual owner. We design lighting and window treatments that comply without leaving rooms dark.

  • Lighting plans that show fixture types, locations and shielding
  • Blackout draperies and shade screens for beach-facing rooms
  • Tinted glass or film coordinated with window replacements
  • Pool and terrace lighting planned for the nesting-season shutoff

Palm Beach Shores and its mid-century houses

Palm Beach Shores began when the hotel builder A. O. Edwards bought the south end of Singer Island in 1947 and laid out 631 lots. The town incorporated in 1951. Its streets run north from the inlet, lined with mid-century houses, many restored or being restored, alongside hotels and condominiums, with marinas on the lagoon. The town's Planning and Zoning Board reviews plans for new buildings, docks, seawalls, property line walls and all renovations and additions, judging them against codes, deed restrictions and overall aesthetic value.

We approach these houses by keeping their scale and street character while rebuilding kitchens, baths and storage for current use. The town also sets its own construction hours, shorter in the winter season, so project direction sequences trades and deliveries to fit.

Mainland Riviera Beach and the Marina District

On the mainland, the city's community redevelopment agency has concentrated on Marina Village, the waterfront district just north of the Port of Palm Beach with the city marina, an event center and Bicentennial Park, and on the Broadway corridor. Across the bridge, the Ocean Mall beside the municipal beach holds more than 60,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space in one- and two-story buildings.

For restaurants, shops, offices and medical suites along these corridors, our commercial interior design service starts with a test-fit plan and 3D renderings for the landlord, then produces the finish, lighting and millwork documents the build-out follows. For homes in neighborhoods such as Riviera Beach Heights, a concept consultation and space plan set the priorities for a kitchen or bath update before a licensed contractor prices the work.

Local rules and facts last checked September 2026. Confirm with your building department before you plan.

FAQ

Questions about interior design in Riviera Beach

More answers

Do the sea turtle lighting rules affect an interior renovation on Singer Island?

They can. Inside Palm Beach County's Sea Turtle Protection Zone along the beach, the code requires window treatments on windows visible from the beach, and installing or replacing a light source needs an ERM permit. We plan balcony lighting, window treatments and any glass changes around those rules, and the licensed contractor handles the permit.

We live up north part of the year. Can you run a renovation of our North Ocean Drive condo while we are away?

Yes. You approve the design from 3D renderings, and we prepare the drawings your association requires. Our project direction service then coordinates the licensed contractor, building management and deliveries around the building's work hours and elevator reservations, and sends photo and video updates as each phase is completed.

Is Palm Beach Shores part of Riviera Beach?

No. Palm Beach Shores is a separate town at the south end of Singer Island. Its Planning and Zoning Board reviews new buildings, docks, seawalls, property line walls and all renovations and additions, including their aesthetic value, and the town sets its own construction hours. We prepare design documents in a form the architect or contractor can submit for that review.
