Interior design in Palm Beach Gardens

Gava Studio Design is an interior design studio based in Stuart serving Palm Beach Gardens. We design renovations in the city's golf communities and its original 1960s neighborhoods, complete interiors for new houses, and offices, medical suites and shops along PGA Boulevard, with consultations at the property, at showrooms and slab yards, or by video.

The city was John D. MacArthur's project. He incorporated it in 1959 as a paper town, named its first streets for flowers and trees, and later sold the land where PGA National was built. Palm Beach Gardens now covers almost 60 square miles and counted about 59,000 residents in 2020. Golf still shapes much of it, from BallenIsles, which began as MacArthur's original PGA National Golf Club, to Mirasol and the PGA National Resort Community, while newer communities such as Avenir are adding houses on a large scale and PGA Boulevard holds the center of the city's retail market.

Neighborhoods and communities we serve in and around Palm Beach Gardens:

  • PGA National
  • BallenIsles
  • Mirasol
  • Avenir
  • MacArthur's original 1960s neighborhoods
  • PGA Boulevard and Downtown at the Gardens
  • North Palm Beach (adjacent)
  • Lost Tree Village (adjacent, unincorporated)
  • Jupiter (adjacent)

Renovating in BallenIsles, PGA National and Mirasol

The city's club communities span several decades. BallenIsles began in 1964 as MacArthur's PGA National Golf Club, took its current name in 1989, and now holds about 1,575 residences in 33 neighborhoods. Ground broke on the PGA National Resort Community in 1978 on 2,340 acres bought from MacArthur, and its Champion course later hosted the 1983 Ryder Cup. Mirasol's 36 holes, designed by Arthur Hills and Tom Fazio, were built on former quail-hunting grounds off Hood Road.

Much of the housing in these communities was built from the late 1970s onward. We redesign these homes as complete interiors, with plans, finish schedules, lighting and custom millwork specified together, and we prepare the drawings and finish descriptions an association requests when exterior-visible changes are involved.

  • Kitchen and family-room remodels oriented to the fairway or lake
  • Primary suite and bath redesigns with new finish schedules
  • Lighting plans for rooms under deep overhangs and covered lanais
  • Custom millwork for studies, wine storage and media rooms

New construction in Avenir

Avenir is a 4,752-acre community in Palm Beach Gardens with homes by several builders, including Kolter Homes, Toll Brothers, GL Homes and DiVosta, more than 2,400 acres of restored natural lands, and a town center approved for retail and office space. For a house under construction, we review the builder's finish and lighting options against a plan for the whole interior, so what the builder installs and what we add later, such as millwork, window treatments and furniture, belong to one design.

After closing, we design built-ins, closets, media walls and furniture sized to the rooms, and we present each room in 3D before orders are placed.

PGA Boulevard offices, medical suites and retail

PGA Boulevard is the city's commercial spine, with The Gardens Mall, Downtown at the Gardens, Legacy Place, PGA Commons and Midtown along it. We design office, medical and retail interiors there: test-fits, concepts, finish and lighting plans, and 3D renderings owners use for landlord and investor approval.

New developments are reviewed by the city's Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board and approved by the City Council, and the Art in Public Places program, which dates to a 1989 ordinance, requires public art as part of larger new nonresidential projects. When commissioned art lands in a lobby or entry, we plan the interior, lighting and signage around it, and our branding and digital design service can carry the same identity into the tenant's signage and website.

The first neighborhoods MacArthur built

Palm Beach Gardens grew quickly after 1959: about 1,800 residents arrived in little more than a year, and the city passed 6,000 by 1970. In 1961 MacArthur had a 60-foot banyan tree weighing 75 tons moved to serve as the centerpiece of the city's entrance. Houses from that first decade are among the oldest in the city.

Renovating one starts with a measured plan of what is there. We work out which walls can open with input from a licensed contractor and, where needed, an engineer, then plan the kitchen, baths, storage and lighting so the house suits the way its owners live now.

Local rules and facts last checked September 2026. Confirm with your building department before you plan.

FAQ

Questions about interior design in Palm Beach Gardens

More answers

Do you design in BallenIsles, PGA National and Mirasol?

Yes. We design renovations and complete interiors in the city's club communities, and we prepare the drawings and finish descriptions an association requests for exterior-visible changes. The association grants approval, and building permits are pulled by your licensed contractor through the city's building division.

When should I bring a designer into a new Avenir home?

Ideally before you finalize builder selections. We review the builder's finish and lighting options against a plan for the whole house, so that what the builder installs and what comes later, such as millwork, window treatments and furniture, works together. 3D renderings let you approve each room before anything is ordered.

What does the Art in Public Places requirement mean for a new commercial building?

In Palm Beach Gardens, new nonresidential developments with $1 million or more in vertical construction costs must devote 1 percent of those costs to public art, installed on site or contributed to the city's art fund. The obligation is the developer's, but when the art sits in a lobby or entry, we design the interior around it.
