3D concept rendering by Vanessa GarciaOverview
Interior concept consulting is the first decision a project needs and the one most often skipped. Before a contractor quotes, before a cabinet is ordered, Gava Studio Design defines what the space should look like, how it should work, and what it should feel like to live or work in.
The result is a concept package: a written design direction, a material and color palette, reference imagery, initial plans, and a scope of work that every later decision can be checked against. Homeowners, builders, and business owners across Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Palm Beach counties use it to align their family, their contractor, and their budget around one idea.

What does an interior design consultation include?
A consultation with Gava Studio Design starts with a walkthrough of the space, in person anywhere from Sebastian to Boynton Beach, or by video call for seasonal and out-of-state owners. We listen for how you use the rooms today, what frustrates you, who the space needs to serve, and what you want it to say about you or your business.
We then review the property itself: ceiling heights, window orientation and natural light, existing finishes worth keeping, mechanical constraints, and anything an association or building may restrict. For condos and gated communities, that review includes the approval process you will face later, so the concept is realistic from day one.
You then receive a written design brief and a concept direction. It is deliberately decision-oriented: it tells you what the space will become and what it will take to get there, in language a contractor can price and a family can agree on.
Who hires a concept consultant instead of a full-service designer?
Many Treasure Coast clients do not need a designer for a year. They need clarity for a week. Concept consulting suits owners who plan to manage their own remodel, buyers deciding between two properties, investors preparing a unit for sale or rent, and business owners who need a direction before they sign a lease build-out.
It is also how most full projects with Gava Studio Design begin. A concept package can grow into space planning and material direction, 3D visualization, and project direction with licensed contractors, but it stands on its own if that is all you need.
How a concept protects your remodel budget
The most expensive words in a renovation are 'while we are at it.' Changes made after demolition cost more than the same changes made on paper, and in Florida they often reopen permits and association approvals. A concept fixes the big decisions early: the layout, the palette, the level of finish, and what stays.
Because the concept includes a scope of work, contractors quote the same job instead of interpreting a wish list. Owners can compare bids honestly, and the chosen builder can plan sequencing before mobilizing.
- Fewer change orders because layout and finish decisions are made before demolition
- Comparable contractor bids from a single written scope
- Material selections checked against lead times before they hold up the schedule
- A reference document that keeps the original idea intact through installation
Residential and commercial concept work
Residential concepts cover full homes, condo renovations, kitchens and primary suites, outdoor living rooms, and the indoor-outdoor transitions that define Florida living. Commercial concepts cover offices, restaurants and hospitality spaces, retail and showrooms, medical and professional suites, and model units for developers.
For commercial clients the concept also addresses brand expression, customer flow, and the practical realities of tenant improvement allowances and landlord approvals. Where a project needs a brand identity as well as a space, our branding and digital design service works alongside the concept.
How long does a concept consultation take?
The first walkthrough is a conversation at the property or by video, and it is free. The written concept package that follows takes longer the more spaces it covers; its timing is agreed with you before work begins.
Do you charge for the first meeting?
No. The first consultation is free. After it, Gava Studio Design quotes the concept work for your project, so you know the fee and the deliverables before committing. Fee structures for interior consulting in Florida commonly include hourly, flat-fee, and percentage-of-project models; we will recommend the one that fits the scope.
Can you consult on a property I have not bought yet?
Yes. A pre-purchase consultation is worth booking for oceanfront condos on Hutchinson Island, waterfront homes in Stuart and Jensen Beach, and older houses in Vero Beach and Fort Pierce. We assess what the space can become and flag structural, association, or code issues that affect renovation cost.
Will you work with my existing contractor?
Yes. The concept package is written so any licensed contractor can price it. If you prefer, our project direction service coordinates the build with our partner builders.
