Interior design in Royal Palm Beach
Gava Studio Design is an interior design studio based in Stuart that serves Royal Palm Beach and the western communities around it. The village incorporated in 1959 on land assembled by Sam and Hattie Friedland and grew outward from its original Colony section, whose streets carry flower names, into subdivisions such as the Willows, LaMancha, Crestwood, Saratoga and Madison Green. Close to 39,000 people lived in the village at the 2020 census.
Nearby, the pattern changes quickly. Westlake, a city since 2016, is being built out by Minto on former citrus land; The Acreage is unincorporated, with large lots, private wells and septic systems and mostly unpaved roads; and Loxahatchee Groves incorporated in 2006 to protect its rural way of life. We design kitchen and whole-house renovations, finish and furnish new homes, and plan offices, shops and medical suites for the growing western communities.

Renovating Royal Palm Beach's established subdivisions
Royal Palm Beach grew in stages: the Colony section near the south end of Royal Palm Beach Boulevard first, then the Willows and LaMancha, with neighborhoods such as Crestwood, Saratoga, Counterpoint Estates and Madison Green following as the village filled in. For houses from the village's early decades, we plan kitchens opened to the family room, rebuilt primary baths, better storage, and lighting and finishes that tie the rooms together.
Where a subdivision has a homeowners association with architectural review, exterior items such as windows, doors, roofs and paint colors typically need the association's approval alongside any permit from the village's building department, so we prepare selections and drawings in the form the association asks for.
- Kitchens reworked for open plans, with new cabinetry, counters and lighting
- Primary and guest bath redesigns
- Built-in storage for garages, laundry rooms and home offices
New homes in Westlake
Westlake became Palm Beach County's 39th municipality in 2016. Its land, about 4,000 acres that Minto bought in 2013 from Callery-Judge Grove, had been citrus groves since the 1960s, and the approved plan calls for 4,546 single-family homes and 2.2 million square feet of nonresidential space. The city grew from 906 residents in 2020 to an estimated 9,000 in 2025, so most houses there are new or still under construction.
New construction moves design decisions earlier. We can review builder options against a design plan while electrical, cabinetry and flooring choices are still open, then finish the house with furniture, window treatments, lighting, custom millwork and outdoor rooms. 3D renderings show the finished rooms before anything is ordered.
Large lots in The Acreage and Loxahatchee Groves
North of the village, The Acreage is an unincorporated community of about 41,700 people that began as Royal Palm Beach Colony, with lots of an acre or more, wooded home sites and roads that are mostly unpaved, partly because of the horses kept there. Nearly every home runs on its own well and septic system, the Indian Trail Improvement District maintains roads and drainage, and permits come from Palm Beach County.
Loxahatchee Groves, settled after its canals were dug in 1917 and incorporated in 2006 to preserve its rural lifestyle, shares that character. On these properties we design interiors for additions and guest suites alongside the architect or engineer, home offices, covered outdoor rooms, and mudrooms and laundry rooms built for sand, dirt roads and animals.
Commercial interiors and first steps
Growth west of State Road 7 brings new commercial space with it, including the nonresidential part of Westlake's plan. Offices, medical suites, restaurants and shops get test-fit plans, concept and 3D renderings for landlord approval, and finish, lighting and millwork documents for the licensed contractor through our commercial interior design service, and our branding and digital design service can create signage and a website alongside the space.
Every project starts with a consultation, at the property or by video, whether the house is in LaMancha and due for a new kitchen or in Westlake and still under construction, followed by a written concept and scope. From there it can grow into space planning, kitchen design, custom furniture and project direction, which coordinates the licensed contractors who pull permits and do the work.
Local rules and facts last checked September 2026. Confirm with your building department before you plan.
Can you help with a new Westlake home before closing?
Yes. We review the builder's options and upgrades against a design plan so the choices that are easiest to make during construction, such as electrical locations, cabinetry and flooring, are settled early. After closing we finish and furnish the house with lighting, window treatments, millwork and furniture, all shown first in 3D renderings.
Our house in The Acreage is on a well and septic system. Does that affect a kitchen or bath remodel?
It can. Moving a kitchen or adding a bath on septic raises questions of capacity and location that the licensed contractor, and an engineer where needed, must answer, and permits in The Acreage come from Palm Beach County. We plan layouts with those limits in view and keep wet areas near existing lines where that makes sense.
Who issues permits for projects in Royal Palm Beach and the nearby communities?
It depends on the address. Properties in the village fall under the Village of Royal Palm Beach, Westlake and Loxahatchee Groves are their own municipalities, and The Acreage is unincorporated, so it falls under Palm Beach County. The licensed contractor pulls the permit, we supply the design documents, and our project direction service keeps the two in step.
