Interior design in Boynton Beach

Gava Studio Design is an interior design studio based in Stuart, serving Boynton Beach, the third most populous city in Palm Beach County, and the three small towns beside it. Boynton was incorporated in 1920 and named for Major Nathan Boynton, who arrived in 1895. The city runs from condominium towers at the Boynton Harbor Marina, half a mile south of the Boynton Inlet, west past I-95 to gated club communities such as Hunters Run.

Its neighbors are unusual. Across the Intracoastal, Ocean Ridge is a low-density barrier-island town and Briny Breezes is an oceanfront mobile-home community owned through shares. Inland, the city wraps around the Village of Golf on two sides. And several well-known 55-plus communities with Boynton Beach addresses, including GL Homes' Valencia communities on Lyons Road, sit outside the city in unincorporated Palm Beach County, which changes who reviews and permits the work.

Neighborhoods and communities we serve in and around Boynton Beach:

  • Downtown and the Boynton Harbor Marina
  • Hunters Run
  • Leisureville
  • Quail Ridge (adjacent)
  • Valencia communities on Lyons Road (unincorporated)
  • Ocean Ridge (adjacent)
  • Briny Breezes (adjacent)
  • Village of Golf (adjacent)

Condominiums around the marina and the Intracoastal

Downtown Boynton Beach has been rebuilt around the Boynton Harbor Marina, which the Community Redevelopment Agency bought in 2006 to keep its fishing and dive charters in business and the waterfront open to the public. Marina Village, completed in 2007, and Casa Costa, completed in 2010, rose beside it at 15 and 14 stories, and mid-rise apartment buildings have followed near Ocean Avenue and Federal Highway. Along the Intracoastal, some low-rise condominiums date back to the 1970s.

In Marina Village, Casa Costa and the older Intracoastal buildings alike, a unit renovation is designed inside the building's rules: board approval of drawings, contractor insurance and working hours, sound control under hard flooring, and plumbing stacks that fix where kitchens and baths can go. Florida's 2022 condominium safety law also requires milestone structural inspections for buildings three stories and taller, so we ask what work the association has scheduled before planning a unit's renovation.

Club and 55-plus communities west of I-95

West of I-95 the housing turns to gated club communities. Hunters Run, inside the city between I-95 and Military Trail, spreads about 1,650 homes over nearly 1,000 acres. Leisureville is a long-established 55-plus community inside the city. Quail Ridge, with 946 residences and two golf courses, lies along Golf Road near the Village of Golf, and farther west several of GL Homes' Valencia communities, all restricted to residents 55 and older, line Lyons Road in the county's Agricultural Reserve, where builders must preserve six acres for every four they develop.

In the established clubs the usual brief is a full interior update: a closed kitchen opened to the family room, new baths and flooring, better lighting and storage, and guest rooms for visiting family. Newer Valencia houses more often need personalization than reconstruction. Where an association reviews exterior-visible changes, we prepare its submission, and the licensed contractor pulls the permit from the city or the county, depending on the parcel.

  • Kitchen and family-room openings in established club homes
  • Baths planned for comfort and aging in place
  • Finish, lighting and built-in upgrades for newer Valencia homes

Ocean Ridge, Briny Breezes and the Village of Golf

Three small towns sit beside Boynton Beach, and each handles its own permits. Ocean Ridge is a low-density barrier-island town, renamed from Boynton Beach in 1939, with its own building and zoning department; about 1,000 seasonal residents join the year-round population.

Briny Breezes is a 43-acre oceanfront town of 488 mobile homes owned through shares in the community corporation, so updates there center on compact kitchens, baths, storage and salt-tolerant finishes. The Village of Golf, a planned golf community founded in 1956, is home to the private Country Club of Florida. Before we draw anything, we confirm which town reviews your project.

Permits, history and how a Boynton Beach project starts

Inside city limits, the Building Department at City Hall on East Ocean Avenue issues permits, and since 2011 a Historic Resources Preservation Board has run the city's preservation program; among the city's landmarks is the 1925 Woman's Club, designed by Addison Mizner and on the National Register since 1979. Ocean Ridge, Briny Breezes and the Village of Golf each handle their own permits, and unincorporated addresses go to Palm Beach County. New or replacement outdoor lights in the sea turtle protection zone in Boynton Beach or Briny Breezes also need a county permit.

A project starts with a consultation at the property, whether a villa in Hunters Run, a house in Ocean Ridge or a unit near the marina. We return a written concept and scope, then develop plans, finish and lighting schedules, and 3D renderings for association or board review. Licensed contractors pull the permits and build, and our project direction service coordinates them, with photo and video reports for owners who spend part of the year elsewhere.

Local rules and facts last checked September 2026. Confirm with your building department before you plan.

FAQ

Questions about interior design in Boynton Beach

More answers

Is my Boynton Beach address inside the city?

Not necessarily. The Valencia communities on Lyons Road, for example, have Boynton Beach addresses but sit in unincorporated Palm Beach County, where the county's Planning, Zoning and Building Department issues permits. The first two digits of your parcel control number show the jurisdiction, and 00 means unincorporated. We confirm this before preparing design documents.

Can you plan a condo renovation in a marina-district tower?

Yes. For towers such as Marina Village and Casa Costa we design within the association's approval process, contractor rules and fixed plumbing stacks, and we ask what building work is scheduled, since Florida's 2022 condominium law requires milestone structural inspections for buildings three stories and taller. 3D renderings help boards and out-of-town owners review the plan.

What is involved in updating a Briny Breezes home?

Briny Breezes homes are mobile homes on land held through shares in the community corporation, so updates usually focus on compact kitchens, baths, storage and finishes that tolerate salt air. The town handles building permits, and outdoor lighting near the beach falls under the county's sea turtle permit rules. We design within those limits and coordinate licensed contractors.
